Australian Masked Owl
New England National Park, near Bellinger River headwaters

Flushed in broad daylight at approximately -30.473509, 152.525939. Circled low above the track, then drifted towards the river and disappeared. Good views were obtained: large, heavy owl with masked face; pale colour with rufous or buff areas around the collar and breast; large round head; short tail; broad wings.
